History

Sakhalin Energy was founded in 1994 to develop the Piltun-Astokhskoye and Lunskoye oil and gas fields off the north-eastern coast of Sakhalin Island. Key Sakhalin-2 project milestones are listed below:

Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. (Sakhalin Energy) is established to implement the Sakhalin-2 project (development of the Piltun-Astokhskoye and Lunskoye fields)
The Sakhalin-2 PSA on the development of Piltun-Astokhskoye and Lunskoye fields is signed by the RF Government, the Sakhalin Oblast Administration, and Sakhalin Energy

The Russian Federation issues licences to Sakhalin Energy for the Piltun-Astokhskoye and Lunskoye fields
The Company starts the development of the Astokh Area of the Piltun-Astokhskoye field

Molikpaq, the first Russia`s stationary platform, installed at the Piltun-Astokhskoye field by Sakhalin Energy

1999

First oil production at the Piltun-Astokhskoye field, Molikpaq platform

The Company starts the integrated development of the Piltun-Astokhskoye and Lunskoye fields

Sakhalin Energy completes construction and installation works for the Lunskoye-A (LUN-A) offshore gas production platform

The Piltun-Astokhskoye-B (PA-B) platform, the third offshore ice-class production platform, is completed and installed

Construction work on the TransSakhalin pipeline system is completed successfully
