Sakhalin Energy Triumphs at Inaugural “Land of Discoveries” Geobrand Festival

The award ceremony was held at the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.

In the welcome address, the festival director, Nadezhda Yavdolyuk, highlighted more than 300 submissions from across Russia in the first ever competition of films about various territories. “Our strength is in our history, and now real footage will provide a look into it through the eventful life of our vast country,” said Nadezhda Yavdolyuk.

The experts assessed the originality of the scripts, content quality, audience feedback, and how valuable each film was in shaping the territory’s attractiveness for tourists and investors. Sakhalin Energy clinched the top award in the “Gastronomic Wealth, Culinary Traditions” category with their film “The Island of Happiness: A Source of Energy”, earning a diploma and a plaque of honour.

The film is about the first coffee and tea collection, serving as a flavourful metaphor for the production processes of the Sakhalin-2 project, successfully engaging public interest in the oil and gas industry, a cornerstone of the region’s economy. The “Sakhalin Energy”, “Sakhalin Blend”, and “Grand Aniva” coffee cocktails, along with the “LNG: Sakhalin. Progress. Horizon” lemonade cocktail and “Prigorodnoye” tea, offer a savoury experience of the company’s assets, each narrating a unique and captivating story about the island.

This corporate video not only promoted the regional brand to potential tourists and the local community but also exemplified how industrial concepts can be successfully woven into the local hospitality culture.

Beyond their victory, Sakhalin Energy saw seven other video projects highly commended by the expert committee, covering priority areas of the Sakhalin-2 project. The following works received top honours or came 2nd and 3rd:

1st place:

– “2023 Sakhalin Oil and Gas Far Eastern Energy Forum” in the “Awards, Forums, Congresses” (tourism and investment attractiveness) category.
